| Commit your way to Yahweh. | We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. | So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. |
| But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him? | How does God's love abide in anyone who has the world's goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help? |
| Because it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on his behalf. | For he has graciously granted you the privilege not only of believing in Christ, but of suffering for him as well. |

| Whom, not having known, you love. In him, though now you don’t see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory, receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. | Although you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy, for you are receiving the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. |
| For who among men knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God except God’s Spirit. | For what human being knows what is truly human except the human spirit that is within? So also no one comprehends what is truly God's except the Spirit of God. |
| You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. | This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. | And this is the boldness we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. |
| Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be; but we know that when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him just as he is.
