| When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. | When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; nor will the waters engulf you. | Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? | Who indeed conquers the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? |

| He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. | Like a city that has been breached and made defenseless is the man devoid of self-control. |
| Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. | The depths of the sea resound in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and your breakers sweep over me. |
