Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
Don’t trap yourself by making a rash promise to God and only later counting the cost.It is a trap to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider one’s vows.
Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today.Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.
It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise. And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise.
Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him. When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow.
Soon I will die, going the way of everything on earth. Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the Lord your God has come true. Not a single one has failed! Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.
Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when he gave his promise to Abraham.A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.
God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.

God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant. For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
For the law was not intended for people who do what is right. It is for people who are lawless and rebellious, who are ungodly and sinful, who consider nothing sacred and defile what is holy, who kill their father or mother or commit other murders. The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching that comes from the glorious Good News entrusted to me by our blessed God.We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.
