The one (2/4)

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.I tell you the truth, anyone who welcomes my messenger is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great. Then he said to them, “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me also welcomes my Father who sent me. Whoever is the least among you is the greatest.”
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?
Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when he gave his promise to Abraham.
And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped.
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.
He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful.
The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.Evil people get rich for the moment, but the reward of the godly will last.
Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them.
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.
Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.But Jesus told them, “I will be with you only a little longer. Then I will return to the one who sent me.”
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: “I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.”
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”
Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.O Lord, if you heal me, I will be truly healed; if you save me, I will be truly saved. My praises are for you alone!
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.
I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass.I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear?

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
