- This is how we know what love is:
he laid down his life for us,
and we in turn must be prepared

the Lord loves the righteous. - However, the wisdom that comes from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, and considerate, full of mercy and good fruits, without any trace of partiality or hypocrisy.

our sufferings that he endured,
we thought of him as stricken,
as struck down by God and afflicted. - Then he sat down, summoned the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he must become the last of all and the servant of all.”

He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me to tranquil streams. - Which one of you, intending to build a tower, would not first sit down and estimate the cost, to see whether he has sufficient funds for its completion?
- Every good act of giving and every perfect gift are from above, coming down from the Father of all light. With him there is no alteration or shadow caused by change.
- I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
Whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give
is my flesh, for the life of the world. - Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. The measure that you use for others will be used to measure you.
- I have told you these things
so that my joy may be in you
and your joy may be complete. - Until now, in my name,
you have not asked for anything.
Ask and you will receive,
so that your joy may be complete. - A fool gives free rein to his anger,
but a wise man bides his time and calms it. - Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that weighs us down and the sins that so easily distract us and with perseverance run the race that lies ahead of us.
- The whispers of a gossiper are tasty morsels
that corrode one’s inner being. - If you are angry, do not sin. Do not let the sun set on your anger, and do not give the devil an opening.
- Rather, let justice flow like a river,
and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
