| By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. | This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. |
| Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. | As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. | Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. | When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. |
| Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. | In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. |
| I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. | In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. |
| The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him. | The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him. |
| And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. |
| Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. | That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. |
| In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? | In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? |
| If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. | If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. |
| For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. | Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. |
| Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful. | Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers. |
| In You, O Lord, I put my trust; Let me never be ashamed; Deliver me in Your righteousness. | In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. |
| And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? | Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? |
| I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. | I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. |
| And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ ” | In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’ |
| Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving. | Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. |
| So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. | So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. |
| No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. | No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. |
| In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. | This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’ |
