13 Bible Verses about Selfishness

King James VersionReina-Valera 1995
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil.
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.
And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.Inclina mi corazón a tus testimonios y no a la avaricia.
But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.Pero de ninguna cosa hago caso ni estimo preciosa mi vida para mí mismo, con tal que acabe mi carrera con gozo, y el ministerio que recibí del Señor Jesús, para dar testimonio del evangelio de la gracia de Dios.
And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.Y llamando a la gente y a sus discípulos, les dijo: —Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz y sígame.
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.Con Cristo estoy juntamente crucificado, y ya no vivo yo, mas vive Cristo en mí; y lo que ahora vivo en la carne, lo vivo en la fe del Hijo de Dios, el cual me amó y se entregó a sí mismo por mí.
Bible verse of the day
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
