| And thus we can have confidence in him that if we ask anything that is in accordance with his will, he hears us. | This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. |

| And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask him, we may be sure that all we ask of him will be ours. | And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. |
| See what love the Father has bestowed on us, enabling us to be called the children of God, and that is what we are. If the world does not recognize us, that is because it did not know him. | See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. |
