Bible Verses about the Devil

  • Remain sober and alert, for your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
  • For we are not struggling against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, the powers, and the cosmic rulers of this present darkness, and against the spirits of evil in the heavens.
  • Put on the armor of God so that you will be able to stand firm against the deceit of the devil.
  • However, the Lord is faithful. He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
  • Hence, be subject to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
  • Everyone who sins comes from the devil,
for the devil has been a sinner
    from the very beginning.
The Son of God appeared for this very purpose:
to destroy the work of the devil.
  • If you are angry, do not sin. Do not let the sun set on your anger, and do not give the devil an opening.
  • Then the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
  • You are from your father, the devil,
and you choose to carry out your father’s desires.
He was a murderer from the beginning,
and he does not abide by the truth,
for there is no truth in him.
    When he lies,
he speaks in accord with his own nature,
    for he is a liar
    and the father of lies.
  • The Lord then said, “Very well. All that he has is in your power. However, you may not lay a hand upon him.” So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.
  • Guide my steps in accord with your word
and never let evil triumph over me.
  • No trial has confronted you except what a person can stand. God is faithful, and he will not allow you to be tried beyond your strength. But together with the trial he will also provide a way out and the strength to bear it.
  • Therefore, put on the armor of God, so that you will be able to hold fast on the evil day and to hold your ground with all your strength.
  • And do not lead us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
  • He has rescued us from the power of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
  • Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? You have lied not to men but to God.”
  • Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days, where he was tempted by the devil. During that time he ate nothing, and at the end of it he was famished.
  • Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by mutual consent for a specified time so as to devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan may not tempt you by taking advantage of your lack of self-control.
  • I am not asking you
to take them out of the world,
    but I do ask you
to protect them from the evil one.
  • You believe that there is one God. You do well to assert that. But even the demons believe and tremble.

He alone is my rock and my salvation,
