| This is how we know what love is: he laid down his life for us, and we in turn must be prepared to lay down our lives for our brethren. | Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. |

| But our citizenship is in heaven, and from there we await our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. | For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. |
| Behold, I am coming soon, and I will bring with me my reward to repay everyone as his deeds deserve. | And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. |
| At the appointed time, while we were still helpless, Christ died for the ungodly. | For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. |
