Joy (2/2)

Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; yes, God has made the one side by side with the other, to the end that man should not find out anything after him.
I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth.I have no greater joy than this: to hear about my children walking in truth.
Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.Charge those who are rich in this present age that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice, and to do good as long as they live. Also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy good in all his labor, is the gift of God.
I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches.I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies, as much as in all riches.
The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise. The father of the righteous has great joy. Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him.
Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything. As sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as poor yet making many rich, as having nothing and yet possessing all things.
And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!”Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared, for today is holy to our Lord. Don’t be grieved, for the joy of Yahweh is your strength.”
But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.”While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. Behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope.
So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this!Go your way—eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God has already accepted your works.
But the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.”The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.”
My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice! My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad, even mine.
But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings. You will go out and leap like calves of the stall.
The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.Yahweh’s precepts are right, rejoicing the heart. Yahweh’s commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes.
But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.
Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil; joy fills hearts that are planning peace!Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil, but joy comes to the promoters of peace.
Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw near, when you will say, “I have no pleasure in them.”
In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.
In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting.
And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God.Every man also to whom God has given riches and wealth, and has given him power to eat of it, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God.
The hopes of the godly result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing. The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.
The grapevines have dried up, and the fig trees have withered. The pomegranate trees, palm trees, and apple trees— all the fruit trees—have dried up. And the people’s joy has dried up with them. The vine has dried up, and the fig tree withered— the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all of the trees of the field are withered; for joy has withered away from the sons of men.
A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother.A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.

Bible verse of the day

Where is another God like you,
who pardons the guilt of the remnant,
overlooking the sins of his special people?
You will not stay angry with your people forever,
because you delight in showing unfailing love.
