Rather, let justice flow like a river, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. | But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. |
While Peter was thus imprisoned, the Church prayed fervently to God for him. | Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. |
Every word of God has proved to be true; he is a shield to those who trust in him. | Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. |
The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is filled with his kindness. | He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. |

A fool spurns his father’s correction, but whoever heeds admonition is prudent. | A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent. |
So we must not fall asleep as the others do, but we must stay alert and sober. | Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. |
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will have their fill. | Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. |
And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. | And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
Truly, you bless the righteous, O Lord; you surround them with your goodwill as with a shield. | For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield. |
But I say to you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. | But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. |
O Lord, you are kind and forgiving, filled with kindness for all who cry to you. | For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. |
Sing praise to the Lord for his mighty deeds; let this be known throughout the entire world. | Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. |
Test everything, and hold fast to what is good. Avoid every form of evil. | Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. |
Hence, I advise you to be guided by the Spirit, so that you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. | This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. |
Whoever possesses the Son possesses life; whoever does not possess the Son of God does not possess life. | He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. |
Therefore, encourage one another and strengthen one another, as indeed you are doing. | Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. |
Once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light. | For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. |
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and man, Christ Jesus, himself a man. | For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. |
Blessed is the man whom God reproves. Therefore, do not reject the discipline of the Almighty. | Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty. |
The future bodes well for him who is generous in helping those in need and who conducts his affairs with justice. | A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. |
And when he had been made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him. | And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. |
All you need to do is to say ‘Yes’ if you mean ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ if you mean ‘No.’ Anything beyond this comes from the evil one. | But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. |
