Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight. | The Lord abhors lying lips, but he delights in those who are truthful. |

Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh, but his friendship is with the upright. | Do not envy a violent man or choose to emulate any of his ways. For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright. |
Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time! | A man is joyful when he utters apt answers, and even more satisfying is a word in season. |
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear. | Rather, revere Christ as Lord in your hearts. Always be prepared to offer an explanation to anyone who asks you to justify the hope that is in you. However, do so with gentleness and respect. |
