Command (2/3)

  • The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.
  • And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. And you must always obey the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.
  • Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom.
All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.
    Praise him forever!
  • Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.
  • I will hurry, without delay,
    to obey your commands.
  • Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.
  • But the love of the Lord remains forever
    with those who fear him.
His salvation extends to the children’s children
of those who are faithful to his covenant,
of those who obey his commandments!
  • You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
  • Moses remained there on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord wrote the terms of the covenant—the Ten Commandments—on the stone tablets.
  • And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day.
  • Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy.
  • I have tried hard to find you—
don’t let me wander from your commands.
  • So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
  • Remember that you were once slaves in Egypt, but the Lord your God brought you out with his strong hand and powerful arm. That is why the Lord your God has commanded you to rest on the Sabbath day.
  • So obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him.
  • I have not departed from his commands,
but have treasured his words more than daily food.
  • Praise the Lord!
How joyful are those who fear the Lord
and delight in obeying his commands.
  • You must faithfully keep all my commands by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord.
  • For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us.
  • But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations.
  • But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions that Moses gave to you. Love the Lord your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul.
  • You must diligently obey the commands of the Lord your God—all the laws and decrees he has given you.
  • Serve only the Lord your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.
  • For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.
  • That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.

God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.
