- The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has been unable to overcome it. - You, O Lord, are light for my lamp;
O my God, you make my darkness turn to light. - Once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
- He reveals deep and hidden mysteries
and knows what lies in the darkness,
for light dwells with him. - If we claim that we have fellowship with him
while we continue to live in darkness,
we are lying and do not live in the truth. - This is the message
that we have heard from him
and that we declare to you:
God is light,
and there is no darkness at all in him. - Jesus addressed them once again, saying,
“I am the light of the world.
The one who follows me
will never walk in darkness.
Rather, he will have the light of life.” - Take no part in the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather seek to expose them.
For it is shameful even to speak of what deeds people do in secret. - Do not associate with unbelievers. For what basis can there be for a partnership between righteousness and lawlessness? What do light and darkness have in common?
- He has rescued us from the power of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
- In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and barren, and darkness covered the abyss while the Spirit of God hovered over the waters.
- But you are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people claimed by God as his own possession,” so that you may proclaim the praise of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
- For we are not struggling against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, the powers, and the cosmic rulers of this present darkness, and against the spirits of evil in the heavens.
- Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be shouted from the housetops.
- The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me
because the Lord has anointed me.
He has sent me to announce good news to the oppressed,
to strengthen the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom to those held in captivity
and release to those who have been imprisoned.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress, so that I stand unshaken.
