- Deliver my soul, Yahweh, from lying lips,
from a deceitful tongue. - Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain;
but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised. - The heart is deceitful above all things
and it is exceedingly corrupt.
Who can know it?
“I, Yahweh, search the mind.
I try the heart,
even to give every man according to his ways,
according to the fruit of his doings.” - Wicked people earn deceitful wages,
but one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. - Put away from yourself a perverse mouth.
Put corrupt lips far from you. - What was sown among the thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of this age and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
- A gentle tongue is a tree of life,
but deceit in it crushes the spirit. - For,
“He who would love life
and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit.
Let him turn away from evil and do good.
Let him seek peace and pursue it.”
Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.Next verse! With image
