- Deliver my soul, O Lord,
from lying lips,
and from a deceitful tongue. - Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. - The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately wicked: who can know it?
I the Lord search the heart,
I try the reins,
even to give every man according to his ways,
and according to the fruit of his doings. - The wicked worketh a deceitful work:
but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward. - Put away from thee a froward mouth,
and perverse lips put far from thee. - He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
- A wholesome tongue is a tree of life:
but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit. - For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him:
but the just shall live by his faith. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.Next verse! With image
