Bible Verses about Lying
- Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh,
but those who do the truth are his delight. - For,
“He who would love life
and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit.
Let him turn away from evil and do good.
Let him seek peace and pursue it.” - Deliver my soul, Yahweh, from lying lips,
from a deceitful tongue. - He who walks blamelessly and does what is right,
and speaks truth in his heart;
he who doesn’t slander with his tongue,
nor does evil to his friend,
nor casts slurs against his fellow man. - Keep your tongue from evil,
and your lips from speaking lies. - He said, “That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man. For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts, covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the man.”

He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.

Feed me with the food that is needful for me. - Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
- The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil.
I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth. - But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the price of the land? While you kept it, didn’t it remain your own? After it was sold, wasn’t it in your power? How is it that you have conceived this thing in your heart? You haven’t lied to men, but to God.”
- A gentle tongue is a tree of life,
but deceit in it crushes the spirit. - Put away from yourself a perverse mouth.
Put corrupt lips far from you. - Excellent speech isn’t fitting for a fool,
much less do lying lips fit a prince. - The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
but the mouth of the wicked is perverse. - One who brings gossip betrays a confidence,
but one who is of a trustworthy spirit is one who keeps a secret. - God is not a man, that he should lie,
nor a son of man, that he should repent.
Has he said, and he won’t do it?
Or has he spoken, and he won’t make it good? - As knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine, according to the Good News of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
