- I have not strayed from the commandments of his lips;
I have treasured in my heart the words of his mouth. - The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom should I be afraid? - The love of money is the root of all evils, and in their desire for it some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many serious wounds.
- I love you, O Lord, my strength,
O Lord, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.
My God is my rock in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold. - Only goodness and kindness will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever and ever. - Blessed are the pure of heart, for they will see God.
- Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my heavenly Father.
- My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a contrite and humble heart, O God,
you will not spurn. - And so you should put to death everything in your nature that is earthly: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desires, and greed (which is idolatry).
- Then I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I made no attempt to conceal my guilt.
I said, “I will confess my offenses to the Lord,”
and you removed the guilt of my sin. Selah - Indeed, persecution will afflict all who want to lead a godly life in Christ Jesus.
- I reprove and discipline all those whom I love. Therefore, be sincere in your desire to repent.
- A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart.
- Listen, my son, and take my words to heart,
and the years of your life will be multiplied. - But as for me, I will look to the Lord.
I place my hope in God my savior;
my God will hear me. - Acquire wisdom and gain understanding;
never forget or turn aside from my words. - Father, allow those you have given me
to be with me where I am,
so that they may behold my glory,
which you have bestowed on me
because you loved me
before the foundation of the world. - Guard your heart with all possible vigilance,
for from it flow the wellsprings of life. - My deliverance and my glory depend on God;
he is my mighty rock and my refuge. - There is only one thing I ask of the Lord,
just one thing I seek:
to dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
so that I may enjoy the beauty of the Lord
and gaze on his temple. - Therefore say to them, “Thus says the Lord God: The fulfillment of my words will not be delayed any longer. What I have said will be done now. This is the word of the Lord God.”
- I will praise you in sincerity of heart
as I ponder your righteous judgments. - My son, do not forget my teaching,
but cherish my commandments in your heart,
for they will bring you length of days,
more years of life, and an abundance of prosperity. - To you, O God of my fathers,
I offer thanks and praise
because you have given me wisdom and power.
Now you have made known to me
what we asked of you;
you have revealed to us the king’s dream. - For where your treasure is, there will your heart also be.
