| My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart. | My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. |
| The words of the godly are like sterling silver; the heart of a fool is worthless. | The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. |

| The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. | The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. |
| A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. | A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. |
| So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this! | Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. |
| God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. | Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. |
| My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart. If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying. | My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. |
| Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money! | Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. |
| Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight. | Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart. |
| Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment. | As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. |
| You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. | Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. |
| Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. | Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. | “Listen to me and make up your minds to honor my name,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “or I will bring a terrible curse against you. I will curse even the blessings you receive. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you have not taken my warning to heart.” | If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. |

| The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve. | The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. |
| But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! | If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. |
| Wash yourselves and be clean! Get your sins out of my sight. Give up your evil ways. | Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil. |
| Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. | Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. |
