Bible Verses about 'Desires'

«Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires… Psalm 37:4»
Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.
Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.”Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.
For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
What is desired in a man is kindness, And a poor man is better than a liar. What a person desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar.
Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.See, the enemy is puffed up; his desires are not upright— but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness.
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.”For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.”
