If you know me, then you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him. You have seen him. | If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him and have seen him. |
I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your precepts. | With my whole heart I have sought you. Don’t let me wander from your commandments. |
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and give you help, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. | Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. |
You shall observe my commandments and obey them. I am the Lord. | Therefore you shall keep my commandments, and do them. I am Yahweh. |
As servants of God, behave as free people, but do not use your freedom as a means to cover up wrongdoing. | Live as free people, yet not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God. |
Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not demand the return of what is yours from the one who has taken it. | Give to everyone who asks you, and don’t ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again. |
Do not let your hearts be troubled. You place your trust in God. Trust also in me. | Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me. |
Therefore, while we have the opportunity, let us labor for the good of all, but especially for those members of the household of the faith. | So then, as we have opportunity, let’s do what is good toward all men, and especially toward those who are of the household of the faith. |
When Jesus heard this, he said, “Do not be afraid. Just have faith, and she will be saved.” | But Jesus hearing it, answered him, “Don’t be afraid. Only believe, and she will be healed.” |
Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword. | Don’t think that I came to send peace on the earth. I didn’t come to send peace, but a sword. |
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. | Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. |
Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time. | Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we don’t give up. |
Do you not realize that you are God’s temple, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? | Don’t you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? |
The Lord has told you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? Only this: to do what is right, to show mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. | He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? |
But what I tell you is this: Do not swear at all, either by heaven, since it is God’s throne, or by earth, since that is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, since that is the city of the great King. | But I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God; nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. |
Do not be lacking in zeal, but serve the Lord with spiritual fervor. | Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. |
Do not store up treasures for yourselves on earth, where they will be destroyed by moth and rust and where thieves break in and steal. Rather, store up treasure for yourselves in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves cannot break in and steal. | Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal. |
When God saw by their actions that they had turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not inflict upon them the punishment that he had threatened. | God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. God relented of the disaster which he said he would do to them, and he didn’t do it. |
For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the Spirit, and those of the Spirit are opposed to the flesh. They are in conflict with one another, so that you cannot do what you want. | For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire. |
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill them. | Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill. |
For: “If anyone wishes to love life and to experience good days, he must restrain his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn away from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it.” | For, “He who would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good. Let him seek peace and pursue it.” |

Go, and assemble all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same thing. I and my maidens will also fast the same way. Then I will go in to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish. |
