Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. | Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. |
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. | If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. |

Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. | Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. |
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. | For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. |
And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. | Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. |
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. | Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. |
