| Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?” For it is not wise to ask such questions. | Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. |
| But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. | But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth. |
| Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit. | But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. |
| And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. | And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. |
| For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. | For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. |
| We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. | Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. | Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. |
| He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he. | He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. |

| For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? | For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save our God? |
| It is written: ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’ | For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. |
| For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? | For who is God, save the Lord? and who is a rock, save our God? |
| It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God. | For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God. |
| So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? | He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? |
| Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. | Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. |
| When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. | What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. |
| For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. | For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. |
