- These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Yes, these may forget,
yet I will not forget you!
Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.
Your walls are continually before me. - Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not depart from it. - You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
- Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.
- Children’s children are the crown of old men;
the glory of children is their parents. - If it seems evil to you to serve Yahweh, choose today whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh.
- A friend loves at all times;
and a brother is born for adversity. - For Yahweh says to the house of Israel:
“Seek me, and you will live.” - May Yahweh our God be with us as he was with our fathers. Let him not leave us or forsake us.
- A man of many companions may be ruined,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. - Don’t forsake your friend and your father’s friend.
Don’t go to your brother’s house in the day of your disaster.
A neighbor who is near is better than a distant brother. - Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be; but we know that when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him just as he is. Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
- If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?
- The father of the righteous has great joy.
Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him. - My son, if your heart is wise,
then my heart will be glad, even mine.
