First. Order (2/3)

  • He is the head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he might have the preeminence.
  • For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence firm to the end.
  • For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what you have, not according to what you don’t have.
  • What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?
  • Therefore leaving the teaching of the first principles of Christ, let’s press on to perfection—not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, of faith toward God, of the teaching of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
  • Establish my footsteps in your word.
Don’t let any iniquity have dominion over me.
  • Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word.
  • Therefore accept one another, even as Christ also accepted you, to the glory of God.
  • Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
  • Remove far from me falsehood and lies.
Give me neither poverty nor riches.
Feed me with the food that is needful for me.
  • He humbled you, allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know, that he might teach you that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of Yahweh’s mouth.
  • For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection; knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.
  • Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.
  • Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.
  • Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions.
  • Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks that he is wise among you in this world, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
  • I made known to them your name, and will make it known; that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them.
  • But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and we have given you of your own.
  • For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.”
  • Finally, brothers, rejoice! Be perfected. Be comforted. Be of the same mind. Live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.
  • Having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.
  • For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire.
  • But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
  • That their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and gaining all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ.
  • He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

Now all this has happened that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child,
and shall give birth to a son.
They shall call his name Immanuel,”
which is, being interpreted, “God with us.”
