| But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting. | But from you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, among the tiniest of the clans of Judah, from you will come forth for me one who is to be a ruler in Israel, one whose origins are from the distant past, from ancient times. |

| Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, But righteousness delivers from death. | Treasures obtained by wicked means profit nothing, but a righteous life brings delivery from death. |
| Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. | Repent and renounce all your transgressions. Otherwise your iniquity will prove to be your downfall. |
| Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so. | Do not withhold kindness from anyone to whom it is due when it is in your power to grant it. |
| Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. | How I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house. | I did not hesitate to tell you what was for your benefit as I proclaimed the word to you and taught you publicly as well as from house to house. |
| The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore. | The Lord will protect you against all evil; he will watch over your life. | I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father. | I came from the Father and have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world and returning to the Father. |
| He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord. | One who finds a wife finds happiness and receives favor from the Lord. |
