Bible Verses about 'Gain'

For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Of course, there is great gain in godliness combined with contentment.Godliness produces great gain, but only to those who are content.
For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life? What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his very life?
Turn my heart to your decrees, and not to selfish gain.Dispose my heart to follow your statutes and to flee selfish gain.
So teach us to count our days that we may gain a wise heart.Teach us to comprehend how few our days are so that our hearts may be filled with wisdom.
For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life? What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life?
If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. If I give away everything to feed the poor and hand over my body to be burned, but do not have love, I achieve nothing.
The wicked earn no real gain, but those who sow righteousness get a true reward. The labors of the wicked man produce little profit, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
The lover of money will not be satisfied with money; nor the lover of wealth, with gain. This also is vanity. One who is covetous will never be satisfied with money, nor will the lover of wealth be content with gain. This too is vanity.
When goods increase, those who eat them increase; and what gain has their owner but to see them with his eyes? When riches increase, so do those who are eager to accumulate them, and those who have accumulated them must remain content simply to feast their eyes on them.
Happy are those who find wisdom, and those who get understanding.Blessed is the person who has found wisdom, the one who has gained understanding.
A person's pride will bring humiliation, but one who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.A man’s pride will bring him low, but lowly souls will rise to honor.
Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death.Treasures obtained by wicked means profit nothing, but a righteous life brings delivery from death.
Better is a little with righteousness than large income with injustice. It is better to have little and be righteous than to acquire great riches with injustice.
Wealth hastily gotten will dwindle, but those who gather little by little will increase it.Wealth hastily acquired will dwindle away, but when amassed little by little, it will increase.
Get wisdom; get insight: do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.Acquire wisdom and gain understanding; never forget or turn aside from my words.
I will make your offspring as numerous as the stars of heaven, and will give to your offspring all these lands; and all the nations of the earth shall gain blessing for themselves through your offspring, because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars of the heavens and I will give them all these lands. All the nations on the earth will be blessed through your descendants, for Abraham listened to my voice and observed that which I ordered: my commandments, my ordinances and my laws.
If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one.If your brother wrongs you, go and take up the matter with him when the two of you are alone. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.
Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and of people.Do not let kindness and fidelity leave you; fasten them around your neck and inscribe them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will gain favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
For not by their own sword did they win the land, nor did their own arm give them victory; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your countenance, for you delighted in them.It was not their own swords that won them the land, nor did their own arms make them victorious; rather, it was your right hand and your arm and the light of your face, because you loved them.
Am I now seeking human approval, or God's approval? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still pleasing people, I would not be a servant of Christ.Does it now appear to you that I am trying to gain the approval of human beings rather than the approval of God? Am I seeking to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

I want their hearts to be encouraged and united in love, so that they may have all the riches of assured understanding and have the knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ himself.I want their hearts to be encouraged and united in love so that they may grow rich in their complete understanding as they come to the knowledge of the mystery of God, that is, Christ.
“Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to us but to God!”Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? You have lied not to men but to God.”
