- This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God:
every spirit that acknowledges
that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh
is from God,
and every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus
is not from God.
This is the spirit of the Antichrist,
about whose coming you have been told,
and that it is already in the world. - Then Peter addressed them: “I now understand how true it is that God has no favorites, but that in every nation all those who fear God and do what is right are acceptable to him.”
- And this is the testimony:
God gave us eternal life,
and this life is in his Son. - This is the conclusion I have reached: it is fitting for a man to eat and drink and find satisfaction in the results of his labors under the sun during the brief span of life that God has allotted him.
- My soul thirsts for God, the living God.
When shall I come to behold the face of God? - Jesus looked at them and said, “For men it is impossible, but not for God. For God all things are possible.”
- Such hope will not be doomed to disappointment, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
- No one has ever seen God,
but if we love one another,
God abides in us,
and his love is made complete in us. - In God alone is my soul at rest;
it is from him that my salvation comes. - In God alone be at rest, O my soul;
it is from him that my hope comes. - Dear children,
you are from God
and you have conquered them,
for the one who is in you is greater
than the one who is in the world. - How great you are, Lord God! There is no one like you, and there is no God except you alone, as everything that we have heard confirms.
- While he was departing as they gazed upward toward the sky, suddenly two men dressed in white robes stood beside them, and they said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking up into the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.”
- Those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
- He is a rock, his deeds are perfect,
and all of his ways are just.
He is a God of truth who does no wrong;
he is just and upright. - Who indeed conquers the world
except the one who believes
that Jesus is the Son of God? - Behold, I am standing at the door, knocking. If one of you hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with that person and that person with me.
- For you, O God, have put us to the test;
you have purified us as silver is refined. - You must understand, brethren, that it is through him that forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you. All those who believe are justified from all the things from which they could not be justified by the Law of Moses.
- I have told you this
so that in me you may be in peace.
In the world
you will endure suffering.
But take courage!
I have overcome the world. - I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything impossible for me to accomplish?
- What is born of the flesh is flesh,
and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. - “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “the one who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
- However, if we live in the light
as he himself is in the light,
then we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus his Son
purifies us from all sin. - In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
