- For You will light my lamp;
The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. - Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;
Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive
To the voice of my supplications. - ‘And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.
- He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God? - For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
- For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
- But You, O Lord, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head. - In You, O Lord, I put my trust;
Let me never be ashamed;
Deliver me in Your righteousness. - In that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.
- Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
- You, O Lord, remain forever;
Your throne from generation to generation. - And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good?
- The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing. - Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil.
- Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
- And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
- Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
- Great peace have those who love Your law,
And nothing causes them to stumble. - Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
- You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am.
- But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.
- Save now, I pray, O Lord;
O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
We have blessed you from the house of the Lord. - O my soul, you have said to the Lord,
“You are my Lord,
My goodness is nothing apart from You.” - Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
- But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
