| God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and he won’t do it? Or has he spoken, and he won’t make it good? | God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through? |
| The entrance of your words gives light. It gives understanding to the simple. | The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand. |
| Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. | Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. |
