So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. | So that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. |
The godly are showered with blessings; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions. | Blessings are on the head of the righteous, But violence covers the mouth of the wicked. |
|
Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous. | For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous. |
Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt. | Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey. |
Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender. | The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender. |
Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. | For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. |
He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth. | He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. |
With their words, the godless destroy their friends, but knowledge will rescue the righteous. | The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered. |
Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one. | But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. |
The very essence of your words is truth; all your just regulations will stand forever. | The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever. |
So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. | There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. |
Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. | Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. |
We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty; but even though he is just and righteous, he does not destroy us. | As for the Almighty, we cannot find Him; He is excellent in power, In judgment and abundant justice; He does not oppress. |
But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit. | But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. |
The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness. | The Lord is righteous in all His ways, Gracious in all His works. |
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” | And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” |
I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. | For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. |
First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. | Remove falsehood and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches— Feed me with the food allotted to me. |
Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. | Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. |
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. | And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. |
For the Lord loves justice, and he will never abandon the godly. He will keep them safe forever, but the children of the wicked will die. | For the Lord loves justice, And does not forsake His saints; They are preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off. |
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. | For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. |
Do not add to or subtract from these commands I am giving you. Just obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you. | You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. |
So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. | For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. |
For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ. | For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end. |
