does not know God,
because God is love. - Anyone who knows the right thing to do and fails to do it commits a sin.

an unfailing refuge in a time of distress.

and knows what lies in the darkness,
for light dwells with him. - Beloved,
let us love one another,
because love is from God.

the Father has bestowed on us,
enabling us to be called the children of God,
and that is what we are.
If the world does not recognize us,
that is because it did not know him. - You created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am wonderfully made;
awesome are your works,
as I know very well. - Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but the one who hates correction is stupid. - If you know me,
then you will know my Father also.
From now on you do know him.
You have seen him. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. - All this knowledge comes from the Lord of hosts
whose counsel is wonderful
and whose wisdom is great. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools are those who despise wisdom and instruction. - Make your ways known to me, O Lord;
teach me your paths. - For the Lord himself is the one who bestows wisdom;

may be in them, and I in them. - Let your kindness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.
