- The Lord is good,
a stronghold in the day of trouble;
he knows those who take refuge in him. - He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what is in the darkness,
and the light dwells with him. - Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.
- Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment.

when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.

I have kept his way and have not turned aside. - See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
