| Take care, brethren, that none of you will ever have an evil and unbelieving heart that will cause you to forsake the living God. | Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. |
| Rather, I discipline my body and bring it under control, for fear that after preaching to others I myself may be disqualified. | But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. |

| For it is by grace that you have been saved through faith. This has not come from you but from the gift of God. It does not come from works, so that no one can boast. | For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. |
| Repent and renounce all your transgressions. Otherwise your iniquity will prove to be your downfall. | Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. |
| Above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth, or use any oaths at all. Let your “Yes” mean “Yes” and your “No” mean “No.” Otherwise you may be condemned. | But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation. |
| Stay awake and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak. | Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. |
