Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. | Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. |
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. | So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. |
|
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. | We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. |
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. | Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. |
And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. | The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also. |
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. | Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. |
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. | No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us. |
Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. | Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law. |
If you love me, keep my commands. | If you love me, you will keep my commandments. |
We love because He first loved us. | We love because he first loved us. |
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. | Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. |
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. | There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. |
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. | Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world. |
Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. | May mercy, peace, and love be yours in abundance. |
Do everything in love. | Let all that you do be done in love. |
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. | And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love. |
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. | I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. |
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. | Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins. |
If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. | If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. |
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. | Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who maintains covenant loyalty with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations. |
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. | For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline. |
Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs. | Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses. |
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. | This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. |
He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ | He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” |
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ | And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ |
