| A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends. | A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends. |
| God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and he won’t do it? Or has he spoken, and he won’t make it good? | God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? |
| How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. | How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. |

| Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the hearts. | A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart. |
