| A man’s pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor. | Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor. |
| The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own esteem. | The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it a wall too high to scale. |
| But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. | But the gift is not like the trespass.
