Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. | So Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.” |
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. | Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. |

And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine. | You shall be holy to me, for I the Lord am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine. |
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine. | Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine. |
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. | Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” |
My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. | My son, if your heart is wise, my heart too will be glad. |
And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. | They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. |
I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? | I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I gaze at a virgin? |
Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul. | Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. |
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. | I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. |
But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. | But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. |
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil. | Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil. |
I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. | I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. |
My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. | My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors! |
The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. | God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places. |
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. | I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. |
O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. | O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. |
For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. | For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine. |
I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. | I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah |
Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger for ever. | Return, faithless Israel, declares the Lord. I will not look on you in anger, for I am merciful, declares the Lord; I will not be angry forever. |
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. | Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! |
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. | Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. |
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. | And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. |
My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. | My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. |
Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt. | Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will. |
