And you shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine. | You are to be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own. |
Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. | Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. |
Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. | Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine. |
“They shall be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts, “On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him.” | “On the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty, “they will be my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him.” |
My son, if your heart is wise, My heart will rejoice—indeed, I myself. | My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad indeed. |
For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established— that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. | I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith. |
I have made a covenant with my eyes; Why then should I look upon a young woman? | I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman. |
Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life. | Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. |
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. | I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. |
But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. | But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. |

Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil. | Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. |
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. | I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. |
My times are in Your hand; Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, And from those who persecute me. | My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me. |
My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. | My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. |
The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills. | The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. |
I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. | I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. |
O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. | You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. |
Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will. | “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” |
I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah | Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. |
‘Return, backsliding Israel,’ says the Lord; ‘I will not cause My anger to fall on you. He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. | The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels. |
I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. | I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. |
