- I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
- Because I rescued the poor who cried for help,
and the fatherless who had none to assist them.
The one who was dying blessed me;
I made the widow’s heart sing. - His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
- I love you, Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. - My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge. - I desire to do your will, my God;
your law is within my heart. - My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever. - “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
and from doing as you please on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a delight
and the Lord’s holy day honorable,
and if you honor it by not going your own way
and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,
then you will find your joy in the Lord,
and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land
and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.”
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. - You, Lord, keep my lamp burning;
my God turns my darkness into light. - Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. - You are my refuge and my shield;
I have put my hope in your word. - Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. - May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. - However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
- Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path. - Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him. - In my distress I called to the Lord;
I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice;
my cry came before him, into his ears. - The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing. - My son, if your heart is wise,
then my heart will be glad indeed. - Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him. - Repent at my rebuke!
Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
I will make known to you my teachings. - Hear my prayer, Lord,
listen to my cry for help;
do not be deaf to my weeping.
I dwell with you as a foreigner,
a stranger, as all my ancestors were. - And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
- Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.
- Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord.
All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from you.All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
