- Hear my prayer, O Lord;
do not be deaf to my cry
or ignore my weeping.
For I am a wayfarer before you,
a nomad like all my ancestors. - In my anguish I cried out to the Lord
and called to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears. - If you would seriously consider my reproof,
I would pour out my thoughts to you
and make my precepts known to you. - In God alone is my soul at rest;
it is from him that my salvation comes. - In God alone be at rest, O my soul;
it is from him that my hope comes. - Whoever feeds upon my flesh and drinks my blood
dwells in me and I dwell in him. - Observe my Sabbaths and stand in awe before my sanctuary. I am the Lord.
- O Lord, all my longing is known to you,
and my sighs are not hidden from you. - If you keep my commandments,
you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love. - I lifted up my voice in prayer to him;
his praise was on my tongue. - The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom should I be afraid? - Then I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I made no attempt to conceal my guilt.
I said, “I will confess my offenses to the Lord,”
and you removed the guilt of my sin. Selah - As long as I remained silent,
my body wasted away
as the result of my groaning throughout the day. - But as for me, I will look to the Lord.
I place my hope in God my savior;
my God will hear me. - By this is my Father glorified,
that you bear much fruit
and become my disciples. - For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. - You are truly my rock and my fortress;
for the sake of your name, lead and guide me. - The Lord is my portion, I say to myself;
therefore, I will place my hope in him. - Why are you so disheartened, O my soul?
Why do you sigh within me?
Place your hope in God;
for I will once again praise him,
my Savior and my God. - When my anxious thoughts multiplied,
your comfort filled my soul with joy. - But you, O Lord, are a shield to protect me;
you are my glory and the one who raises my head high. - If you love me,
you will keep my commandments. - Your statutes are my everlasting heritage;
they are the very joy of my heart. - I stretch out my hands to you;
my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah - Listen, my son, and take my words to heart,
and the years of your life will be multiplied.
