So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you. For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing.
