| Or can one walk on hot coals without scorching the feet? | Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? |
| But fornication and impurity of any kind, or greed, must not even be mentioned among you, as is proper among saints. | But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints. |
| Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil. | Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil. |
| Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. | Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. |

| It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. | And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. |
| Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them, because it is the Lord your God who goes with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. | Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. |
| For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life? | For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? |
