- Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

For there is no savior besides Me. - For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. - But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
- Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And plead the cause of the poor and needy. - Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.
- The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him in truth. - Open your mouth for the speechless,
In the cause of all who are appointed to die. - Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.
Cease to do evil. - Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.
- Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:
“Hosanna to the Son of David!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Hosanna in the highest!” - Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.
- Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
- Because I delivered the poor who cried out,
The fatherless and the one who had no helper.
The blessing of a perishing man came upon me,
And I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy. - No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
- Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
- Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident. - And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
“Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ ” - Ponder the path of your feet,
And let all your ways be established. - Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths. - Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.
- And I will walk at liberty,
For I seek Your precepts. - The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.
Day unto day utters speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge. - If I say, “My foot slips,”
Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up. - Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
