| Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. | Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and utter all kinds of calumnies against you for my sake. |
| Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man’s sake. | Blessed are you when people hate you and ostracize you, when they insult you and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. |
| Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come— that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles. | But I have had help from God to this very day, and I stand here and testify to both the lowly and the great. I assert nothing more than what the Prophets and Moses said would occur: that the Christ must suffer, and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light to the people and to the Gentiles. |
| And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” | And I heard a loud voice proclaim from the throne: “Behold, God’s dwelling is with mankind; he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and he will be their God, God-with-them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will no longer be death. Neither will there be any mourning or crying or pain, for the old order has passed away.” |
| Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. | Now, if you will obey my voice and keep my covenant, you will be my own possession from among all the peoples, for the entire earth is mine. |
| Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” | He said to them, “Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” |
| And you shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine. | You shall be holy, for I, the Lord, am holy. I have chosen you from among all people that you shall be mine. |
| But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. | I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to render an account for every careless word they utter. |
| But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. | However, those who want riches fall into temptations and are trapped into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. |
| Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. | Therefore, I tell you that every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. |
| And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. | Take no part in the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather seek to expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of what deeds people do in secret. |
| See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. | Therefore, take care to live as intelligent people, and do not be like those who are senseless. Make the most of the present time, for this is a wicked age. |
| The wicked man does deceptive work, But he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward. | The labors of the wicked man produce little profit, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. |
| I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. | In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. |
| By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom. | An ignorant man causes strife by his insolence, but wisdom is found with those who take advice. |
| I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples, And I will sing praises to You among the nations. | I will give thanks to you among the peoples, O Lord; I will sing your praises among the nations. |
| The vine has dried up, And the fig tree has withered; The pomegranate tree, The palm tree also, And the apple tree— All the trees of the field are withered; Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men. | The vine has withered; the fig tree droops. The pomegranate, the palm, and the apple tree— all the trees of the field have dried up. And the joy of the people has also withered away. |
| How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. | How can a young man lead a spotless life? By living according to your word. |
| The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. | The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you all. |
| Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! | Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name; proclaim his deeds among the peoples. |
| By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. | This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples: if you love one another. |
| In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? | In God, whose word I praise, in God I place my trust and know no fear; what can people do to me? |
| Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. | Adulterers! Do you not know that love of the world results in enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a lover of the world makes himself an enemy of God. |
| For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age. | For the grace of God has appeared bringing salvation to the entire human race. It teaches us to reject godless ways and worldly desires, and in the present age to lead lives that are temperate, just, and godly. |
| Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. | Those who accepted his message were baptized, and on that day about three thousand people were added to their number. |
