- Many plans are in a person’s heart,
But the advice of the Lord will stand. - The ransom of a person’s life is his wealth,
But the poor hears no rebuke. - A person’s gift makes room for him
And brings him before great people. - Anxiety in a person’s heart weighs it down,
But a good word makes it glad. - A person’s pride will bring him low,
But a humble spirit will obtain honor. - Every person’s way is right in his own eyes,
But the Lord examines the hearts. - A rich person’s wealth is his strong city,
And like a high wall in his own imagination. - For who among people knows the thoughts of a person except the spirit of the person that is in him? So also the thoughts of God no one knows, except the Spirit of God.
- If anyone thinks himself to be religious, yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this person’s religion is worthless.
- I have seen that every labor and every skill which is done is the result of rivalry between a person and his neighbor. This too is futility and striving after wind.
- A joyful heart is good medicine,
But a broken spirit dries up the bones. - The words of a gossiper are like dainty morsels,
And they go down into the innermost parts of the body. - And He was saying, “That which comes out of the person, that is what defiles the person. For from within, out of the hearts of people, come the evil thoughts, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, acts of adultery, deeds of greed, wickedness, deceit, indecent behavior, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the person.”
Pursue peace with all people, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
