- For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

but the Lord pondereth the hearts. - A merry heart doeth good like a medicine:
but a broken spirit drieth the bones. - The rich man's wealth is his strong city,
and as an high wall in his own conceit. - The words of a talebearer are as wounds,
and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. - If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
- And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
- Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself;
