A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.
A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.
By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.
A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.Fools show their annoyance at once, but the prudent overlook an insult.

Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool— how much worse lying lips to a ruler!

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.
Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice.
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.
The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall. The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin.

The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. What a person desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar.
