“I will sanctify my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am Yahweh,” says the Lord Yahweh, “when I am proven holy in you before their eyes.” | I intend to prove the holiness of my great name which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. Thus, the nations will know that I am the Lord, says the Lord God, when through you I will display my holiness in their sight. |

Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble. For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. | Therefore, brethren, be diligent in providing a firm foundation for your call and election. You may say in your heart, “How shall we know the word which Yahweh has not spoken?” When a prophet speaks in Yahweh’s name, if the thing doesn’t follow, nor happen, that is the thing which Yahweh has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You shall not be afraid of him. | You might say to yourself, “How can we know that the Lord did not speak the message?” If what the prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord is not true and it does not happen, then the message was not proclaimed by the Lord. The prophet has spoken presumptuously, you should not fear him. |
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs. | Hatred stirs up strife, but love overlooks all offenses. |
Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. | Entrust everything that you do to the Lord, and your plans will turn out to be successful. |
Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched? | Or can a man walk on red-hot coals without scorching his feet? |
A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps. | A man may plan his own course, but the Lord makes his steps secure. |
The fear of Yahweh teaches wisdom. Before honor is humility. | The fear of the Lord provides instruction in wisdom, and to be humble is the way to honor. |
Don’t weary yourself to be rich. In your wisdom, show restraint. | Do not wear yourself out in the pursuit of wealth, and cease even to think about it. |
Yahweh’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it. | The blessing of the Lord is what brings wealth, and our toil adds nothing to it. |
Like water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man. | Just as water reflects one’s face, so does one human heart reflect another. |
A fool’s lips come into strife, and his mouth invites beatings. | The lips of a fool cause strife, and his mouth provokes a flogging. |
